Instant corn-soy blend (ICSB). This food product was developed by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS),part of the US Department of Agriculture. It is an instant form of corn-soy blend,which is a mix of maize (corn,Zea mays) and the beans (soybeans) of the soya plant (Glycine max). ICSB can be extruded (lower left),ground into a powder (lower right),and mixed with tepid water to produce a porridge (bowl,top). ICSB is designed for the addition of vitamins and minerals to emergency aid meals,particularly for young children.
