Marshmallows in a bottle demonstrating the effect of a vacuum. Sucking on the straw removes air from the bottle,creating a vacuum. As the pressure lowers in the bottle the air bubbles trapped in the marshmallows expand,and therefore so do the marshmallows. As it is quite gradual the effect is more noticeable when the air is released back into the bottle and the increase in pressure causes them to shrink again
