Alexander Russell (1861-1943),British electrical engineer. Russell taught mathematics at Cheltenham College and the Oxford Military School. From 1909 to 1939 he was Principal of Faraday House. He published papers on alternating electrical current and a biography of Lord Kelvin. Russell was awarded the Faraday Medal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1940 and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1924. He was President of the Physical Society from 1922 to 1924. Russell was President of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1923.
