Plutonium Recycle Test Reactor (PRTR),aerial photograph. This site was part of the Hanford Engineer Works (or Hanford Site),on the Columbia River,in Washington state,USA. It was a nuclear production complex operated by the US government from the 1940s (as part of the Second World War Manhattan Project) to the 1960s. The DuPont Company were the prime contractors for most of the site. The PRTR site was used to research various mixtures of nuclear fuels. Most of the Hanford Site had been decommissioned by 1971.
