Fairground in a Paris park,19th-century artwork. This is the Carre Marigny square in Paris,France,in June 1848. From 1835,this square was the site of the Cirque des Champs-Elysees,with semi-permanent circus tents and fairground stalls. The advertising boards above the tents at right depict a snake charmer,an elephant,and monkeys. A small rotating wheel-ride is being operated at right.
