Bam,Iran. This ancient city (more fully known as Arg-e Bam),was one of the largest examples of mud architecture in the world. Destroyed in an earthquake on 23rd December 2003,it was said to be over 2000 years old,and was an important stop on the overland trade route from India to the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean.
