Common brown lemurs. Female common brown lemur (Eulemur fulvus) washing her infant in a tree. This lemur is found in north-western areas of Madagascar and on nearby islands. It mainly eats fruit, young leaves and flowers. All lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, where they evolved in isolation from other primates after Madagascar became geographically isolated from Africa. Many lemur species are becoming increasingly rare due to habitat destruction. Photographed at Vakona Lodge,in the Perinet Reserve,Madagascar | |
