Robert Allen Cooley (1873-1968),US entomologist,in his laboratory. Cooley was professor of zoology and entomology at Montana State University,USA. He worked on the problem of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever,which was a fatal disease found in Montana's Bitterroot Valley. Cooley,working at the Rocky Mountain Laboratory in Hamilton,Montana,confirmed the cause as Rickettsia bacteria transmitted by ticks. By 1924,a vaccine had been developed.
