Scar after broken elbow repair, following removal of the staples that had been used to close the surgical wound. This injury was a posterior fracture-dislocation of the oleacranon of the right elbow. The olecranon is the bony protrusion formed by the proximal (upper) end of the ulna, the larger of the two lower arm bones. A plate and screws (not seen) hold the bone together as it heals. The staples held the overlying skin and tissue together as they healed. For a series of X-rays and photographs of this injury, see C014/7724 to C014/7728. This photograph was taken around 3 weeks after images C014/7726 and C014/7727 | |
