Homo georgicus model. Reconstruction of a female specimen of Homo georgicus. This hominin, sometimes classified as Homo erectus georgicus, lived during the Pleistocene era. Fossils dating from around 1.8 million years ago were found in 1999 and 2001 at the Dmanisi archaeological site in Georgia. It is believed to have been the first of the hominins to have settled in Europe. Their remains show that they had small brains and that the male of the species was much larger than the female. This model is based on the fossil skull D2700. Reconstruction by the Daynes Studio,Paris,France | |
