Cryotherapy research. Athlete taking part in research to determine the therapeutic effects of the cold on an athlete's recovery after exercise. After a strenuous physical fitness test the athlete spends time in a cryotherapy chamber. Cryotherapy is a medical therapy technique that uses low temperatures. It is most commonly used to decrease cellular metabolism,inflammation,pain and spasm,in order to promote healing. Cryogenic chamber therapy (seen here) is a form of whole body cryotherapy that places the patient in a specially designed chamber for a short period.
