Two sets of particle tracks from electron-positron collisions seen by the ALEPH (Apparatus for LEP physics at CERN) detector at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva,Switzerland. ALEPH was built around the large electron positron (LEP) accelerator ring, which ran from 1989-2000. The collisions both produced a Z boson. The particle is not seen, but is revealed through its decay products; a muon,an antimuon (both shown by yellow lines radiating from centre) and a photon (yellow lines at top right of right-hand image) | |
