George Downing Liveing (1827-1924),British chemist. Liveing studied at St John's College,at the University of Cambridge. He went on to become a Fellow of the College and later its President (1911). He was Professor of Chemistry at the University from 1861 to 1908. Elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1879,his speciality was spectroscopy and he was awarded the Royal Society's Davy Medal (1901) for this work.
