It was constructed from stainless steel with the carriages permanently articulated,making the train much lighter than its predecessors. The first Zephyr was completed in 1934 and on the 26th May it undertook a 'Dawn-to-Dusk' dash from Denver,Colorado,to Chicago,Illinois,that set a new speed record.
