Protein kinase research. Researcher analysing protein kinases using a radioactive (33P-ATP) filter-binding assay. This is part of research to determine the selectivity of protein kinase inhibitors and their use in drug targeting. In recent years protein kinases have become the most studied class of drug target. Ten protein kinase inhibitors have now been approved as anti-cancer drugs and many more are undergoing clinical trials (as of 2012).
