Michael E. Brown (born 1965),US planetary scientist. Brown obtained his PhD from the University of California,Berkeley,in 1994. Since 2003,he has been professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Between 2002 and 2007,he and his team discovered 14 trans-Neptunian objects (beyond the orbit of Neptune). The most famous of these discoveries was Eris in 2005,a dwarf planet that was found to be larger than Pluto. This led to Pluto losing its status as a planet in 2006.
