Museum curator and Amerindian mummy. Mummification is a process where tissues are preserved after death by extreme dessication in a dry climate. This mummy is possibly from Peru (label at bottom). The Inca,a pre-Hispanic people from Peru,ruled an extensive empire in the Andean regions of northern South America in the 15th and 16th centuries. This mummy is part of the anthropology collection at the Musee de l'Homme (Museum of Man),Paris,France,one of the departments of the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN).
