The dogfish eye has a cornea (black) but no conjunctiva. The lens of the eye is spherical and hard and is suspended by a gelatinous zonule. The dogfish's eye is adapted for near vision in dim light. Between the eyes is the fore-brain region of the brain and part of a ventricle. The brain is surrounded by cartilage (pink). Lower down is the mouth (buccal) cavity and cartilaginous jaws.
