Thunderstorm detection system. Met Office employee using cathode ray direction-finding equipment to locate thunderstorms. These are detected by the radio noise (sferics) produced by lightning in the atmosphere. This radio noise,and the direction it is coming from,are displayed on the cathode ray screen.
