Mississippi flood. Refugees in boats by a Baptist church in New Madrid,Missouri,USA,during the devastating floods of 1912. This flood and the one the following year (before the flood defences had been rebuilt) caused extensive destruction. Water levels reached over 12 metres above normal levels in some areas,and persisted for many weeks. Thousands were displaced and ended up in refugee camps.
