Air pressure experiment. Paired rubber seals (versions of the Magdeburg hemispheres) inside an evacuated vacuum chamber. At the start of this experiment,the two rubber seals had a vacuum between them (see image C011/1405),meaning they couldn't be pulled apart without using great force because of the weight of the atmosphere.
