SPOT 5 satellite,artwork. SPOT 5,launched by the European Space Agency in 2002,is part of the SPOT (Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre) family of satellites. The SPOT satellites are operated by a company created by the French space agency (CNES). The SPOT 5 satellite improved on the first four SPOT satellites with the addition of the HRS (high-resolution stereoscopic) and HRG (high-resolution geometric) sensors and increased image resolution.
