The Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV,left) and Progress module (right) are unmanned resupply vehicles used by the European and Russian space agencies respectively to supply the International Space Station (ISS). The Apollo module (centre) was used by NASA for missions to the Moon. The ATV shown here is the first (ATV-001,Jules Verne),which was launched in 2008,with a second one launched in 2011. The Progress resupply spacecraft was first developed in 1978,with over 130 launches between then and 2011. There were 11 manned Apollo missions between 1968 and 1972 | |
