MODEL RELEASED. Pest-control operative using a pressurised lance to inject a dry-powder insecticide into a wasps nest under the roof tiles . The protective clothing is not only for protection from wasp stings but also from the chemical insecticide. These insecticides are not available to the public but only to users who have undergone professional training in their application and proper use. Bendiocarb,an acutely toxic carbamate insecticide,is commonly used in wasp nest control. It is in the World Health Organization (WHO) class II for acute toxicity indicating that it is moderately hazardous to humans if ingested or absorbed through the skin. It also has adverse ecological effects, similar to the organophosphates, and can kill birds at low doses. Its use,as at 2011,is banned in the US and is under consideration in the EU | |
