Galileo IOV satellites. Artwork of two In-Orbit Validation (IOV) satellites for the Galileo satellite navigation network orbiting the Earth. The Galileo satellites,being built and launched by the European Union and the European Space Agency,will form part of a network of 30 satellites orbiting the Earth. This network will be used for car,train and aircraft guidance,rescue services,and road use taxation. It is scheduled to begin operating by 2014.
