Whooper swans (Cygnus cygnus) in a large group on the shores of a wetland area. These swans inhabit northern regions of the world around water. They spend the summer in the far north, and travel to more temperate regions in the winter. They eat aquatic plants and small invertebrates, and occasionally small fish and mammals. They are named for their high, whooping call. Photographed in the UK | |
