Monte Nuovo. Illustration depicting Monte Nuovo,a cinder cone volcano that was created September and October 1538. This is within the Phlegraean Fields,a volcanic caldera near Naples,Italy. The appearance of the volcano was preceded by large scale land motion and earthquakes. Monte Nuovo is 123 metres high.
