Michael Faraday (1791-1867). Statue of the British chemist and physicist Michael Faraday. Faraday's major work was in the areas of magnetism and electricity. He suggested the concepts of electric and magnetic fields,and did early work on the electric motor,induction,transformers,and the dynamo. He also popularised science with public lectures at the Royal Institution,London. This bronze statue was unveiled outside the Institute of Electrical Engineers,London,UK,in 1989. It is a copy of a marble original (1876,Royal Institution) by the sculptors John Henry Foley and Thomas Brock. Faraday is in academic robes holding his induction ring |
