Hydrogen fuel cell bus crossing Waterloo Bridge,London,UK. This bus is powered by a fuel cell where hydrogen and oxygen react to form water and electrical power. This is a cleaner source of power than the burning of fossil fuels to form carbon dioxide and other pollutant gases. Following a trial that lasted from 2004 to 2007,this route is now being converted permanently to include hydrogen buses. The new hydrogen buses were built by Wrightbus and are being used on route RV1. The first entered service in December 2010,with a total of eight scheduled to be operating by the end of 2011 | |
