Frost-damaged sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) crop. Field of sugar beet that has been exposed to hard frost during a particularly cold winter. The plants are heavily infected by bacterial rot. This rendered the crop useless for processing and the plants were subsequently chopped, spread back on a field and ploughed in. Photographed in Norfolk,UK,in January 2011 | |
