Frost-damaged sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) crop. Sugar beet plant that is unable to be harvested due to extremely hard ground caused by frost during a particularly cold winter. The plant is also heavily infected by bacterial rot. This rendered the crop useless for processing and the plants were subsequently chopped, spread back on a field and ploughed in.
