Australian aborigines,18th century. This artwork shows a group of Australian aborigines in canoes led by Bennelong (left,here called Ban nel lang) meeting New South Wales colonists. This meeting on 17 September 1790 was a reconcilation after the colony's governor Arthur Phillip had been wounded in an earlier meeting at Manly Beach on 7 September 1790.
