Emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri),museum specimen. This penguin, found in Antarctica,is the tallest and heaviest species of penguin. This specimen, one of the earliest to come to Britain, was collected during the James Clark Ross expedition to Antarctica (1839-1843). The taxidermist who prepared this specimen was not familiar with live emperor penguins and created an unusually long, thin penguin.
