Wallace Atwood (1872-1949). Historical image of the American geographer and geologist Wallace Walter Atwood. Atwood's main contribution to science was his idea of Global Species Consolidation,in which he theorised that man follows a set path in it's evolution consisting of different stages: Dispersion of the species; Differentiation and adaptations to the physical environment; Contact with other cultures; Warfare and trade between cultures; and finally Consolidation of political and economic ideals. He was also president of the International Film Foundation and had Mount Atwood in Antarctica named after him | |
