Anatomy and royalty,17th century. English anatomist William Harvey (1578-1657) dissecting a deer's head in front of the English King Charles I (1600-1649). Harvey is famous for his discovery that the blood and heart form part of a complete systemic circulatory system,something that had not been fully realised before. He published his findings in 1628 in 'De Motu Cordis' (On the Motion of the Heart and Blood). The book included a dedication to King Charles I.
