William J. Borucki (born 1939),US space scientist. Borucki's early work in the 1960s and 1970s was used in the development of spacecraft heat shields. He then worked on studies of planetary lightning. Borucki's career has been spent at NASA's Ames Research Center,USA,currently at the Astrobiology and Space Research Directorate. He is the leader of the Kepler Mission,which launched in 2009 to look for Earth-like planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars.
