MODEL RELEASED. Basal cell carcinoma surgery. Surgeon using a scalpel and tweezers to remove a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) from an elderly man's nose under local anaesthetic. The cancer has formed a growth on the bridge of the patient's nose. Following the excision, skin from the cheek near the ear was grafted over the area, and a dressing put in place for two weeks to allow the area to heal. This common form of skin cancer is most often caused by over-exposure to sunlight. It grows slowly and rarely spreads to other parts of the body | |
