Surgeons in an control suite monitor progress of the catheterisation of a 70-year old man in a procedure to correct his irregular heart ryhthms or atrial fibrillation. Cardiologist Dr Andre Ng uses ECG data and real-time X-ray displays to remotely guide the catheters into the patient's heart to correct the fibrillation by burning specific tissue. This technique enables the surgeon to avoid the large doses of X-ray radiation involved in manual catherisation over the course of a lengthy procedure.
