Statue of Claude Louis Berthollet (1748-1822),French chemist. Berthollet,a contemporary of Lavoisier,worked with him and others on the new chemical nomenclature. He also carried out research on dyes,bleaches (including the use of chlorine as a bleach),and ammonia. Berthollet was one of the scientists who went to Egypt with Napoleon. In 1804,he became vice-president of the French Senate. This statue is located in Talloires,near Annecy,in the Haute-Savoie region of France.
