Apollo Service Module thruster quad on display. This thruster,a type of reaction control system (RCS),was used for NASA's Apollo program of manned missions to the Moon. Each thruster quad had four nozzles and four of them were mounted on the outside of the Command/Service Module that was used to journey between the Earth and the Moon. Fired in unison, they produced small amounts of thrust to make small adjustments to the direction and orientation of the spacecraft. The Apollo program took place between 1961 and 1975.
