Carpal tunnel syndrome results from pressure on a nerve which passes into the hand via a gap (the carpal tunnel); impulses from the blocked nerve cause numbness,muscle weakness,and pain in the fingers. It may occur in arthritis or be a repetitive strain injury (RSI)
