MODEL RELEASED. Thermal transmittance research. Technician adjusting a rotatable hot box, which is used to measure the overall heat transfer through large,non-homogeneous building structures. Non-homogenous structures are features in the building, such as windows and doors. The hot box also looks at heat transfer from warm environments into the structures and heat transfer from the structures to cold environments. These measurements (seen at bottom) could help to identify inefficient structures with excessive heat loss. Photographed at the National Physical Laboratory,in Teddington,UK | |
