Palaeolithic stone tool. This stone scraper was used by early humans to remove bone and fur from meat during the butchering process. It dates back to 10,000 years ago,at the end of the Upper Palaeolithic era. Some types of rocks, such as flint, could be knapped into many tools, such as arrow and spear heads for hunting. Knapping is the process where a lump of rock is shaped into a tool by repeatedly chipping off small flakes. This scraper was found in France and is 4.5 centimetres in diameter | |
