CT scanning. Patient undergoing a computed tomography (CT) scan. CT scanning uses X-rays to produce cross-sectional images of the scanned area. This allows doctors to view internal body structures and diagnose medical conditions. The patient is being passed through the hole in the scanner and a computer compiles the data into multiple image slices. This scan of the head (seen on screen at bottom) is being done to examine the patient's ear. Photographed at the Fondation Rothschild,Paris,France | |
