The body of the fly is divided into three parts: the abdomen at the end of which are the genitalia; the thorax with one pair of wings,one pair of halteres (balancers) and three pairs of legs; and the head,which has one pair of compound eyes and ocelli (simple eyes),a pair of antennae,a pair of maxillary palps and the proboscis. The dung fly has dense hairs over most of its body. These fly aggregate and mate in the vicinity of cow pats. Later the female will lay her eggs on the cow pat.
