Long cells that make up the leaf are seen at upper image (green). These leaf cells have been infiltrated by threads of fungal mycelium and reproductive spores (yellow) of the rust fungus. Rust fungi (Uredinales) are common parasites on both wild and cultivated plants,often causing severe disease.
