Radioactive decay. Computer simulation of the radioactive alpha decay chain of the Element 112 heavy nucleus (top left). The nuclei & alpha particles contain postively-charged protons (orange/yellow) & neutral neutrons (blue); the particles' shading lightens as the nuclei become smaller. After being formed,Element 112 quickly decays by releasing an alpha particle to form Element 110 (upper left). This undergoes alpha decay to form hassium (lower right) which in turn forms seaborgium.
