Halophilic bacteria. Light microscopy footage of halophilic bacteria. These bacteria are from Lake Retba (the 'Rose Lake'), a salt lake in Senegal. The pink colour of the lake is due to extremophile bacteria that are found in its waters. In this case, the bacteria are halophiles, thriving on the high salt concentration that ranges from 80 to 300 grams per litre. | |
