The briefing is taking place in an underground launch control centre at the NASA facilities at Merrit Island, near Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. Present in the audience is German-US aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun, lead designer of the Apollo Saturn V rocket. This footage is from the Presidential tour by John F. Kennedy that took place here on 16 November 1963. This was Kennedy's third visit to Cape Canaveral, taking place a week before his assassination. The site was renamed the Kennedy Space Center in his honour on 29 November 1963. |
