Antibiotic Resistance. When a population of bacteria is subjected to an antibiotic, many bacteria are killed, but a few may have the ability to evade death. If so, this ability can be passed to later generations. This sequence illustrates the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance - those bacteria that are not killed by a first wave of antibiotic continue dividing and are unaffected by later doses of the drug. | |
